Every year, thousands of people succumb to oral cancer, a condition that is survivable if diagnosed and treated early. At each visit, your dentist will examine your lips, head, neck and mouth visually and by touch to make sure there are no signs of oral cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#2 \u2013 Examining Your Tongue<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your tongue will be closely examined to ensure that it has a healthy size and texture. These two factors can determine much about your dental and overall health, such as the presence of infection, vitamin deficiency, fever or other issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#3 \u2013 Inspecting Your Teeth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Each of your 32 teeth will be examined during your checkup. Typically, your dentist will use a small mirror and dental explorer to probe for any possible issues.
